Haald Engineering is aware of the positive impact good corporate citizenship has on the wider community and endeavours to be a role model in this regard by supporting a number of community projects, educational programmes, charities and research organisations.
Haald also acknowledges the importance of practical experience and where possible provides vocational work experience to outstanding achievers from the projects we support. It is hoped that by introducing students to a positive and stimulating work environment they will be inspired to achieve well in their educational pursuits and to ultimately enjoy learning.
Best United Soccer Club
As part of its commitment to the local community, Haald is sponsoring the Best United Soccer Club (BUSC), who are a group of extremely talented and enthusiastic young refugee soccer players. Haald is providing financial and organisational support to assist the club establish itself as a registered club in a major competition. :: see more ::
Homework Club In 2009 Haald launched a weekly tutoring program (the ‘homework club’) for refugee children aged between 10-16 years. Several tutors assist the children with homework and assignment preparation and provide support in English conversation, reading, math and science.
As an Engineering company we are keen to encourage those, who show an interest in engineering to pursue this interest. Consequently the homework club decided to offer training in Engineering design software giving the students an opportunity to actively practice engineering design. University of Queensland - HAALD Engineering Scholarship
Nyanda State High School – HAALD Engineering Humanitarian Award
At Haald we recognise the strength of our company is dependent on the skills of our people and it is to this end that we have implemented our own graduate program.
In May 2009 the inaugural HAALD Engineering Scholarship was awarded to Mathew Bricalli an outstanding third year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Queensland.
In November 2008 Haald Engineering sponsored
a Humanitarian Award in the form of a laptop computer complete with Microsoft Office, two years of wireless internet and back pack.
This was awarded to Mercy Okumu at the Nyanda State School 2008 Awards Presentation. Mercy is an outstanding student who has entered Australia on a permanent humanitarian visa and is making the most of the opportunities provided.
